VietAI Summit 2019 — A Huge Success!
The VietAI Summit 2019 attracted some of the world’s brightest minds in AI and robotics to take the stage and discuss the future of technology, and how Vietnam can utilize AI to catapult the country into the next industrial revolution.
More than 450 people attended VietAI 2019 Summit entitled AI for The Future, organized by VietAI and Kambria. With a program featuring many reputable guest speakers from big tech companies such as Google Brain, Toyota Research Institute, Kambria, NVIDIA, VinAI Research, Vinbrain, Deakin University, and Vietnam National University HCMC, we received fresh insights into the exciting state of AI research and application, not just in Vietnam, but also around the world.
We were honored that H.E. Bui The Duy, Deputy Minister of Science & Technology, delivered the opening speech, setting the tone for our Summit. It was also great hearing from keynote speaker, Dr. James Kuffner, CEO of the Toyota Research Institute – Advanced Development, Inc., about Toyota’s latest advancements with autonomous vehicles. We’ll be sure to look for Level 4 cars in Tokyo next year! And anyone interested in working as a Machine Learning Engineer, the highest-paid IT job in Vietnam, can now apply interview tips Huyen Nguyen shared with us.

Applying Deep Learning for Autodocking Calibration on the Ohmni Robot
Deep learning is a powerful tool when applied to robotics. This article discusses how OhmniLabs, Kambria’s sister company, uses deep learning for autodocking calibration in its telepresence robot.
The Ohmni robot has the capability of finding its docking station and moving to that station for recharging. Calibration between the camera image and the robot coordinates in the real world is an important step of autodocking. OhmniLabs has also built an infrastructure for model training and serving that allows for continuous improvement of the deep learning models. This architecture is deployed as part of OhmniLabs’ deep learning AI framework. Click here to read the full article.
