A level playing field, a leg up, humans have longed deeply for fairness and freedom from oppression for as long as we have recorded our history. Sometimes, the bearers of this freedom have come in the form of human beings, in others spirit, and sometimes humans have created their own vehicles for freedom in their own image — out of stone, mud or metal — and longed for the ability to breath life into it.

In ancient mythology, there are some examples, too. In Crete, the citizens created Talos, a massive bronze statue, to defend their small island against invaders. Pygmalion, through obsession and desire, brought life to his most beautiful statue through the most human of emotions, love.

It is only recently that exponential increases in human technology have allowed us to unlock the power of the human imagination and to create the designs we have dreamed of for so long.

It is understandable to be uncertain of the rapid change that robotics will bring to our society. Automation replaces many low skilled jobs, a real difficulty for many being displaced by this change. However, with a labor shortage looming, this may be a big win for humanity in the long run.

The bigger deal is that Robotics frees us to reach for a higher potential and to participate in the distinctly human act of dreaming.

But imagination isn’t just for the starry-eyed idealists among us. The rapid advances in technology allow normal folks to actually bring these futuristic designs into the world. This is happening! Well…kinda. There are still a few too many obstacles in the way.

You know the story — corporate monopoly, expensive processes, inefficient development. These systems are designed to keep power and money in the hands of a few people (read: the 1%). In order to create the robots of the future, we need to leave this ridiculous system behind us.

Kambria is changing everything by turning the outdated robotics R&D system on its head. It’s working to make robotics faster, cheaper, and easier to manufacture than ever before, spreading the power and benefits from this amazing technology to everyone.

Sound too good to be true? Not so much. There’s a lot more information on the website and the white paper if you want to dive deep.

Through the Kambria platform, you will be able to pull from existing resources and build upon them to create anything under (on, inside?) the sun.

Kambria is the first decentralized open innovation platform for Deep Tech (AI, Robotics, Blockchain, VR/AR…). Using our platform, anyone can collaborate in researching, developing and commercializing innovative ideas and get rewarded fairly for their contributions. Through partnerships with government agencies, top universities and leading companies, Kambria is dedicated to building a sustainable open innovation ecosystem to change the way we innovate and to accelerate advanced technology development and industry adoption. Together, let’s shape the future of technology where technology is open and contributes more to society.
