A way for community to co-own a technology is now opening, and step by step, we are coming closer to the vision of democratizing technology ownership and accelerating innovations.

Each Kambria DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) is started by a Dev Team summiting their proposal to Kambria with a solution of technology they can develop and open for community to co-own.

Community collectively buy into the solution by participating in the DAO.

Then Dev Team starts to develop the solution and the development progress will be managed monthly.

The DAO as owners of the solution will decide and contribute to the commercialization of the solution, as well as get paid from their contribution to solution commercialization.

Kambria DAO FAQs

1. Which companies/teams are suitable to join the role of Dev Team in Kambria DAOs?

Companies/teams that are strong in a technology field (robotics, AI, blockchain, AR/VR, IoT…) and can provide many solutions in that technology area. Kambria can advise them to choose a suitable solution to participate in Kambria DAOs.

Appropriate solutions are social- and community-oriented ones.

Technology companies / teams can consider participating in the development of that solution in Kambria DAOs as a CRS project which can bring revenue to their company / team.

2. What if during solution development, Dev Team or the DAO decides to stop midway?

These cases are in fact a form of “unilateral contract termination”. Traditionally, the parties can unilaterally terminate the contract but need to fulfill the obligations by that time.

Kambria DAO model implements the mechanism in which parties fulfill their obligations in stages (release, review and payment monthly), a common practice to minimize risks and disputes in this case.

On the other hand, the decisions and evaluations are made public, which is also a mechanism for the parties to consider and make the most reasonable decisions and evaluations, to maintain the trust of the community.

3. What if Dev Team or a member of the DAO brings the technology solution to commercialization for themselves?

Kambria DAO is like a model to open source the technology solution for the members of the DAO, in which the DAO community will decide and contribute to the commercialization of that solution.

As such, this model does not rule out the risk of Dev Team or any member of the DAO bringing the solution to commercialization for themselves.

However, Kambria DAO model is based on the belief that for social and community-based solutions, the DAO collectively will commercialize the solution more effectively than an individual member.

4. Dispute settlement mechanism: Normally breach of contract can be sued in court, how is it resolved on Kambria DAOs?

According to source, only 3 to 5% of online transactions end in dispute. Therefore, Kambria DAOs focus on optimizing the operating model to reduce the risk of disputes, while still preparing a dispute resolution mechanism.

For example, a DAO member brought a technology solution to commercialize it for himself and was sued by other members of the DAO. A Guardian Committee will be established (including DAO representatives and Guest Legal experts) to review and vote. Sanctions are disclosure of information and permanent exclusion (this member is prohibited from participating in any activities of the Kambria ecosystem).

5. How can Kambria help with marketing and calling for fund contributors for the DAOs?

Kambria will go from our advantages of Investor Network, Developer Community… in the fields of Deep tech. We have and will continue to build our ecosystem stronger and stronger.

Community members can join many DAOs to co-own different technology solutions, can contribute to the commercialization of the solutions and earn revenue sharing.

Strong ecosystem is also a factor to attract Dev Teams as well as the community to participate in Kambria DAOs. They can open their own DAO, but joining Kambria will be a better option with support of ecosystem, platform, organizing, consulting, marketplace, etc.

6. Should fund contributors joining first (more risk), to be fair, have more rights?

The mechanism of contributing funds to receive LP tokens is with discount as usual. So we can apply better discounts to the early offers to be fairer to the first contributors.

7. How to forecast the revenue of the solution?

Members of the DAO co-owning the solution will decide the commercialization of the solution, from direction to implementation. Therefore the revenue of the solution is the result of their actions, and the revenue sharing mechanism will be the driving force for them to make decisions and contribute to the implementation the best they can.

8. The mechanism of voting rights based on the amount of money contributed to the fund may cause some DAO members contributing the most money and having the most voting rights but not having enough experience and knowledge to make bad decisions for the DAO?

The voting process will open a discussion channel for the DAO community to share their opinions. DAO members contributing the most money would suffer the most if they make the wrong decision, so they will consult the community and consider those opinions to make the most appropriate decision.

Some decisions that require professional knowledge and experience (such as approving solutions, handling disputes…) will follow the Committee mechanisms, with the participation of a number of DAO Representatives and a number of Guest Experts, to ensure objectivity and expertise.
