Sustein Material
About Project
Sustein Material manufactures carbon-neutral (to-be) materials for construction and design using healthcare waste. They connect healthcare waste management with the construction and design industries, developing innovative materials that meet environmental and health standards. These products aim to reduce operational costs and environmental impact for manufacturers, hospitals, and waste managers.
Sustein Material addresses two critical issues: healthcare waste management and construction’s environmental impact. Construction in Europe exploits 50% of annual natural resources, with construction materials contributing 11% of global CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, a large portion of healthcare waste (99%) is disposed of in landfills or incinerators, with 55% globally unmanaged. By integrating healthcare waste into construction materials and promoting a circular economy, Sustein helps decrease CO2 emissions and resource use. Their approach offers a sustainable, scalable solution with measurable environmental benefits for industries involved in waste management and construction.
