DAO Funding Guide

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 21 views

This guide explains how each DAO receives and manages its program funding, including the structure for USDT, KAT, and POL allocations.

DAO funding is designed to balance flexibility and accountability — empowering communities to act, while ensuring clear tracking and transparency.

1. USDT – Project Budgets

Each DAO receives a total budget of $3,000 USDT, distributed in three milestones (except Reflection DAO with $1,500 distributed proportionally):

Phase Allocation Purpose
Phase 1: Onboarding 30% (~$900) DAO setup, onboarding support, early proposal activities
Phase 2: Execution Month 1 40% (~$1,200) Core execution of proposals and community impact activities
Phase 3: Final Activities & DAO Wrap-Up 30% (~$900) Last proposals, reflections, final reports, showcase preparation

How It Works:

  • DAO members submit proposals using the XDAO platform (Send Token feature)
  • DAO members vote on funding approvals
  • After all required confirmations, the transaction is automatically executed

DAO funds are held in each DAO’s XDAO wallet.

2. KAT – Contribution-Based Recognition

KAT is used to symbolize and track meaningful contributions to the DAO. It is not a currency or payment — it represents recognition, reputation, and participation.

Use Case Example Actions
Active participation Attending DAO calls, supporting DAO execution
Contribution tasks Submitting proposals, reports, outreach, media
Creative inputs Sharing stories, drawings, design, feedback
Stewardship Mentoring others, reflection writing, DAO coordination

How It Works:

  • Each DAO starts with a pre-defined set of action types and suggested KAT values (see: Action Types & KAT Values)
  • DAO members earn KAT based on their contributions and logged via Proposal Reports.
  • Kambria Core team issues KAT periodically based on verified tracker data
  • Each DAO can vote to adjust its KAT scheme using a DAO proposal

3. POL – Gas Fee Support

To support activity on the Polygon blockchain, each DAO and member needs a small amount of POL tokens for transaction fees.

Use Case Estimated POL
DAO setup (wallets, voting) 10 POL per DAO
Member onboarding 0.1 – 0.2 POL per participant
Proposal/voting execution Minimal per transaction
Support buffer 10 POL managed centrally

Kambria provides initial POL to DAO wallets and members. DAO participants do not need to purchase POL themselves.

DAO Wallet Setup & Preloading

Each DAO wallet is initialized with:

  • Initial 30% of USDT budget
  • ~10 POL for gas fees
  • KAT Tracker link (pre-loaded but distributed based on action logs)

Additional funding is disbursed based on proposal approvals and milestone completion.

Support & Transparency

  • All proposals and transactions are recorded on the XDAO platform
  • All contributions and rewards are tracked in shared DAO trackers
  • Kambria Core team provides reporting tools, documentation, and troubleshooting support

DAO Financial Principles

Principle Practice
Transparency All funds are tracked publicly via XDAO + shared sheets
Decentralized Approval DAO members vote on spending proposals
Lean & Flexible Small-scale pilots allow agility and learning
Kambria as Steward Kambria executes confirmed transactions, not as controller but as supporter
Recognition > Payment KAT honors contributions, it is not a currency

DAO funding is not just about managing money — it’s about building shared trust, stewardship, and accountability in a decentralized world.
