KAT Token in the Program

KAT Recognition Framework

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 9 views

This page outlines how each DAO defines, uses, and adjusts action types and suggested KAT values during the DAO Experimentation Program.

It includes:

  • A starting list of Action Types & Suggested KAT Values
  • Guidelines for DAO self-governance over these values
  • The official process to propose updates using XDAO voting

1. Action Types & Suggested KAT Values

Each DAO begins with a predefined list of action types and suggested KAT amounts. These help guide recognition, support learning, and ensure program-wide alignment early on.

Example (Grow Together DAO)

Action Type Suggested KAT
Submit accepted proposal 15 KAT
Execute planting action (per 100 trees) 12 KAT
Coordinate team logistics 10 KAT
Document action with photos 8 KAT
Support or promote DAO activity 5 KAT

Each DAO has its own version based on mission focus.

2. DAO Self-Governance: Adjusting the Recognition Scheme

DAOs are encouraged to propose and vote to adjust their KAT scheme as the project unfolds — while respecting cross-DAO alignment principles.

Shared Principles for Alignment

  • Use shared value ranges:
    • Light support tasks → 3–5 KAT
    • Core execution roles → 8–12 KAT
    • High-impact leadership actions → 15–20 KAT
  • Reward impact, not hours spent
  • Differentiate core vs. support roles
  • Be transparent and vote before changes
  • Avoid inflation or token farming
  • Allow one-time bonuses if justified

3. Process to Adjust the Recognition Scheme

To ensure clarity and accountability, recognition updates must be proposed and approved via the DAO’s official XDAO space - Proposal voting feature (for proposals with no budget requests).

Proposal Template

Proposal Title: Update to KAT Recognition Scheme – [DAO Name]

Description:
This proposal updates the list of contribution types and corresponding KAT values for [DAO Name].
Changes have been reviewed by DAO members and reflect feedback from the execution phase.

Changes Proposed:

    • New/updated actions with KAT values (e.g., “New action: Storytelling Interview – 10 KAT”)
    • Adjusted KAT value for existing actions (e.g., “Photo documentation from 8 → 6 KAT”)

Reasoning:

    • Summary of why the changes are needed
    • Alignment with shared principles
    • Anticipated effects on fairness or clarity

4. What Happens After Approval

Once a proposal to update KAT values is approved:

  1. DAO Facilitators notify the Kambria Core Team
  2. Kambria updates the official records:
    • DAO’s KAT Contribution Tracker
    • Any relevant smart contract logic or DAO dashboards (if applicable)
  3. Changes take effect from the date of approval forward

Past contributions are not retroactively adjusted unless voted on explicitly.
