Member Removal Policy: Inactivity or Misconduct

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 39 views

This policy outlines how DAO members may be removed due to sustained inactivity or cheating/misconduct, in order to uphold fairness, trust, and active participation in DAO operations.

1. Grounds for Removal

A. Inactivity

A member is considered inactive if they do not participate in at least one of the following activities for 3 separate instances:

  • Voting on proposals (via XDAO)
  • Attending DAO meetings (live or async check-ins)
  • Contributing to tasks (based on proposal reports)

B. Cheating or Misconduct

A member may also be removed if they:

  • Submit false or misleading information in the Application Form or Proposals
  • Attempt to claim KAT or funds for tasks not completed or not done by themselves
  • Repeatedly misrepresent their participation or contribution
  • Misuse DAO tools or voting to manipulate outcomes

2. Monitoring and Notification

  • DAO Facilitators will review voting logs, meeting attendance, task contributions, and Discord engagement.
  • In case of suspected misconduct, evidence must be gathered and validated before initiating removal.
  • In both inactivity and misconduct cases, a public notice is posted in the DAO channel and the member is informed.

3. Removal Process

  1. Proposal Submission
The DAO Facilitator submits a Remove Member proposal via XDAO.

    • Title format: Remove member [Participant Name] - Inactivity / Misconduct
    • Description must state the reason and include relevant evidence or activity summary.
  2. Voting
    • A simple majority vote is used.
    • If approved, the member’s GT (governance token) is burned.
  3. Post-Removal Actions
    • The member is removed from the DAO coordination list.
    • Their name is removed from KAT tracking and relevant documentation.
    • No further payments or recognitions are processed.

4. Tracking Sheet: Inactivity & Misconduct

To support transparency and fairness in the member removal process, each DAO is recommended to maintain an Inactivity & Misconduct Tracking Sheet.

What It Tracks

  • Inactivity: Missed proposal votes, unexcused meeting absences, and lack of contribution.
  • Misconduct: Submission of falsified reports, malicious behavior, or community guideline violations.

Template Structure: Inactivity & Misconduct Tracking
