Table of Contents

Purpose

  •     Guide remuneration is paid monthly, based on the number of completed and valid Connection Sessions in the month (see Compensation Mechanism for Service Providers).
  •     This mechanism determines which Sessions are recorded as completed, which are incomplete (with reasons, to support complaint resolution), and which are eligible for payment.

Standard Session duration

The standard duration of a Session depends on the Guide’s verified expertise level:

Guide level Standard duration 80% of standard duration
Level 4 20 minutes 16 minutes
Level 3 30 minutes 24 minutes
Level 2 40 minutes 32 minutes
Level 1 50 minutes 40 minutes

Conditions for recording a completed Session

  1.   The Guide must participate for at least 80% of the standard Session duration.
  2.   The participation time is calculated based on the total time both users are present on at least one device simultaneously (if one user leaves a device but continues participating on another and both are still present together, that time is still counted).
  3.   Participants must not be more than 15 minutes late to join the Session. After 15 minutes, CED will automatically terminate and record the Session as incomplete.
  4.   In cases of unexpected incidents (e.g. power outages) causing one party to be disconnected from an ongoing Session: similar to being late, the disconnection duration must not exceed 15 minutes. If it exceeds 15 minutes, CED will automatically terminate and record the Session as incomplete.
  5.   In cases where the minimum required duration (at least 80% of the standard Session duration) is not met and the reason is not covered in Point 3 or 4: the application will display a prompt asking the Explorer to confirm whether the Guide has completed the Session. The confirmation window is 3 days; if no response is received from the Explorer within that time, the Session will be recorded as completed.
  6.   Participants may extend the Session beyond the standard duration if both agree. The extended time must not exceed 60 minutes beyond the registered Session time (e.g. if scheduled from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM, the Session will automatically end at 5:00 PM if extended).

Session validity

A completed Session is eligible for payment only if it is a genuine knowledge-exchange Session between two real, distinct participants.

A Session is not eligible for payment if it:

  •     is not a genuine exchange — for example, the participants are not actually present or no real conversation takes place;
  •     involves an account that is fake, duplicated, or controlled by the other participant;
  •     is arranged to generate Guide payments or referral rewards rather than to exchange knowledge; or
  •     breaches the CED Community Code.

Session recordings and review

  •     Sessions are recorded for quality, safety, and payment review. Recordings are kept for 90 days, and longer while a Session or account is under review.
  •     CED may review any Session, before or after payment, using the Session recording and platform records such as join and leave times, device and connection data, and booking and rating history.
  •     A Session without a recording is not automatically eligible for payment. It will be reviewed using platform records before payment is approved.

Payment holds

  •     Payment for a Session under review is held until the review is complete.
  •     If an account is found to be involved in Sessions that are not genuine, CED may withhold all pending payments and rewards for that account, and suspend or close the account.
  •     If you have a question about the status of a Session or a payment, contact [email protected].
