How to Participate in the DAO Experimentation Program - Cohort 2

The DAO Experimentation Program (DEP) invites students, professionals, creators, technologists, community builders, and mission-driven individuals from around the world to participate in a 10.5-month decentralized learning and impact program.

Participants will join one of the DAOs in Cohort 2 and contribute through meaningful roles in execution, creativity, exchange, regeneration, documentation, product thinking, tokenomics, and coordination.

1. Who Can Join?

Individuals

DEP 2 welcomes:

  • University students, club leaders, project founders
  • Creators, volunteers, social innovators
  • Designers, developers, writers, facilitators
  • Anyone passionate about social impact, knowledge sharing, creativity, community, decentralized organizing, or tokenomics

Organizations

Including:

  • Student clubs and youth communities
  • NGOs and social impact groups
  • Research teams and learning networks
  • Community-based initiatives and grassroots collectives

No prior blockchain, DAO, or crypto experience is required.

2. What You Will Experience

You become a member of a functional DAO, contributing to real execution, governance, documentation, and regeneration activities.

E. Recognition via KAT (Symbolic, Non-Financial)

Participants earn KAT for:

  • Contributions
  • Documentation
  • Regeneration-supporting work
  • Cross-DAO collaboration

(KAT in DEP 2 is symbolic and non-financial.)

3. How to Join (Aligned with Program Timeline)

DEP 2 follows a structured two-phase joining process:

  • Phase 2: Call for Applications & Partners (Jan - Mar)
  • Phase 3: Onboarding & DAO Assignment (Apr - mid-May)

This ensures clarity, fairness, and alignment for every participant.

Phase 2 - Call for Applications & Partners (Jan - Mar)

Step 1 - Submit the Application Form

Applicants share:

  • Motivations & interests
  • Preferred DAO (Creative / Exchange / Tokenomics / Participant-Proposed)
  • Preferred Working Groups
  • Availability
  • Experience (optional; beginners welcome)

Step 2 - Screening & Shortlisting

Applications are reviewed weekly.

Step 3 - 30-Minute Online Interview (Mandatory)

Each shortlisted applicant completes a 30-minute alignment interview with a DEP Organizer.

The interview ensures:

  • Understanding of DAO structure, commitments, and expectations
  • Alignment with DEP values (contribution, documentation, regeneration, decentralization)
  • Matching between applicant interests and DAO needs
  • Clarification of contribution style and meeting attendance requirements

Applicants may ask questions about program structure and roles.

Step 4 - Acceptance & Confirmation

Accepted applicants:

  • Receive a confirmation email
  • Join the DEP Discord
  • Receive the Onboarding Schedule for Phase 3

Partner organizations receive tailored onboarding information.

Phase 3 - Onboarding (Apr - mid-May)

Step 5 - Attend the DEP 2 Kickoff & Orientation

A live online session introducing:

  • What DAOs will execute
  • Working Groups & contribution roles
  • KAT recognition system
  • Master Plan & WG proposals
  • Regeneration mindset & documentation expectations
  • Tools (Discord, Drive, CED, XDAO, Notion)

Step 6 - DAO Assignment

Participants are assigned to:

  • One primary DAO (Creative / Exchange / Tokenomics / Participant-Proposed)
  • One Working Group, based on:
    • Interests & motivations
    • Skills / contribution styles
    • DAO needs
    • Balanced member distribution

Participants may join additional WGs if capacity allows.

Step 7 - DAO Onboarding Week

Members:

  • Receive the DAO Onboarding Package
  • Review the DAO’s Master Plan Draft
  • Join DAO-specific onboarding calls
  • Get access to WG tools, trackers, and proposal templates
  • Meet WG Leads, the DAO Lead, and the DAO Facilitator

Step 8 - Begin Contributing (Execution-Ready by mid-May)

Participants begin:

  • Weekly DAO meetings
  • WG tasks & proposal drafting
  • Early execution activities
  • Documentation & regeneration workflows

From this point forward, they are full DAO Members for the remainder of DEP 2.

4. Types of Participation

4.1 DAO Members (Official Participants)

DAO Members:

  • Join weekly DAO meetings
  • Join at least one Working Group
  • Participate in governance
  • Submit proposals, contribute consistently
  • Receive full KAT recognition categories
  • Receive official DEP certificates (DAO Member)
  • Eligible for DEP 3 leadership roles

Roles Included:

  • DAO Lead
  • WG Leads
  • WG Contributors
  • Internal LDPs
  • Internal Ambassadors
  • Partner representatives embedded inside the DAO

4.2 Community Collaborators (External, Non-Member Contributors)

Community Collaborators contribute occasionally or in limited-scope roles.

They are not DAO Members, but they do receive recognition.

Characteristics:

  • Do not attend weekly DAO meetings
  • Do not join WGs
  • Do not participate in governance
  • Can support for limited tasks or specific events
  • Are recognized through:
    • KAT (Community Contribution categories)
    • DEP Certificates (Collaborator Certificate)

Examples:

  • External Ambassadors
  • External Local Delivery Partners (external LDPs)
  • Partner staff supporting a pilot
  • Guest speakers / guest contributors
  • Event-based or campaign-based volunteers
  • Students or users participating in select CED or creative sessions

This ensures everyone is recognized, even if not in the DAO structure.

 

5. Expectations

DEP 2 emphasizes clarity, contribution, and responsibility.

Members are expected to:

  • Join weekly DAO syncs
  • Communicate actively in Discord
  • Complete assigned WG tasks
  • Follow DAO governance processes
  • Support regeneration initiatives
  • Submit documentation and evidence
  • Collaborate respectfully with global members

 

6. What You Do NOT Need

  • No prior blockchain or crypto experience
  • No knowledge of DAOs required
  • No technical background required
  • No full-time commitment or fixed working hours
  • No need to hold KAT or any cryptocurrency

DEP is a learning-by-doing program.
