DEP 2 - Participation Expectations (Read Before Applying)

This page outlines the responsibilities and behavioral expectations for DAO members in the DAO Experimentation Program (DEP) Cohort 2.

By applying to the program, all applicants must confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these commitments.

1. Why Commitments Matter

DEP is a 10.5-month decentralized program, where each DAO relies on consistent participation.

In Cohort 1, issues of inactivity and unclear expectations created bottlenecks and required significant intervention.

DEP 2 improves clarity by defining:

  • Participation commitments

  • Scope of work

  • Communication expectations

  • Termination policies

Participation is flexible in style, but not optional in presence or responsibility.

2. Participation Commitments (For All DAO Members)

All official DAO Members agree to the following commitments.

2.1 Attend Weekly DAO Meetings

  • Attend the weekly DAO meeting, unless prior notice is given.

  • Inform the DAO Lead, WG Lead, or DAO Facilitator when you cannot attend.

  • Review meeting notes if absent.

2.2 Join at Least One Working Group (WG)

Each DAO Member must:

  • Select one primary WG

  • Contribute tasks aligned with WG scope

  • Provide progress updates at weekly meetings

(Joining additional WGs is optional.)

2.3 Deliver Agreed-Upon Tasks

Members are expected to:

  • Complete tasks to the best of their ability

  • Communicate early if challenges arise

  • Avoid silent non-delivery

2.4 Maintain Active Communication

  • Be responsive in Discord

  • Reply within ~48 hours when tagged or assigned

  • Participate in internal alignment discussions

2.5 Follow Documentation Standards

Documentation is essential for:

  • Learning

  • Governance

  • Regeneration

  • End-of-cohort reporting

Each member must:

  • Submit evidence (screenshots, logs, files) for assigned tasks

  • Help maintain WG logs

  • Contribute to monthly DAO summaries when relevant

2.6 Support the Regeneration Mindset

Regeneration is a core principle of DEP 2.

Members are expected to:

  • Understand regeneration goals

  • Support regeneration-focused activities

  • Share leads, ideas, and content that enable regeneration

  • Respect that regeneration KPIs are based on DAO context

3. Scope of Work (What DAO Members Actually Do)

The exact tasks vary by DAO and WG, but contributions fall into the categories below.

3.1 Execution

  • Hosting 1–1 CED sessions (Exchange DAO)

  • Creating artworks or content (Culture & Creative DAO)

  • Designing token frameworks (KAT Tokenomics DAO)

  • Delivering specific outputs (Participant-Proposed DAOs)

3.2 Regeneration

  • Supporting outreach to partners

  • Preparing regeneration materials

  • Supporting sponsorship pilots

  • Helping quantify regenerated value

3.3 Documentation

  • Maintaining spreadsheets, logs, and trackers

  • Preparing evidence folders

  • Summarizing WG progress monthly

  • Helping with DAO-wide reporting

3.4 Coordination & Governance

  • Scheduling or facilitating meetings

  • Helping shape proposals & Master Plan

  • Providing cross-WG alignment

  • Collaborating with DAO Lead & WG Leads

  • Engaging in DAO-wide decision-making

4. Behavioral Expectations

4.1 Respect & Collaboration

  • Treat all members with respect

  • Welcome diverse backgrounds and viewpoints

  • Listen actively and communicate constructively

  • Support a safe, inclusive environment

4.2 Integrity & Transparency

  • Be honest about capacity and timelines

  • Communicate proactively when challenges arise

  • Take accountability for your tasks

  • Follow DAO-wide governance processes

4.3 Commitment to Learning

  • Embrace a growth mindset

  • Be open to feedback

  • Share learnings openly

  • Help improve processes and tools

5. Termination Policy (IMPORTANT)

DEP 2 introduces a clear, structured termination policy to reduce inactivity and ensure fairness.

A DAO Member may be removed if one or more of the following conditions occur.

5.1 Inactivity Without Communication

  • Missing two consecutive weekly meetings without notice

  • No communication in Discord for 14 days

  • No delivery of agreed tasks for a prolonged period

  • Repeated failure to respond to WG Lead / DAO Lead / Facilitator

5.2 Passive or Minimal Participation

Even when present in Discord, a member may be removed if they:

  • Regularly attend meetings but never take tasks

  • Consistently avoid contributing to WG work

  • Delay DAO progress due to repeated non-action

  • Do not fulfill basic WG responsibilities

5.3 Misconduct or Violations

Immediate removal may occur for:

  • Disrespectful or harmful behavior

  • Harassment or discrimination

  • Misrepresentation, dishonesty, or manipulation

  • Actions disrupting DAO workflow or trust

  • Violating DEP community principles

5.4 Termination Process

The process is designed to be fair, transparent, and documented.

Step 1 - Identification

WG Lead, DAO Lead, or DAO Facilitator identifies inactivity or issues.

Step 2 - Private Check-In

The member is contacted privately to discuss the situation.

Step 3 - One-Week Adjustment Period

The member receives one week to re-engage or adjust workload.

Step 4 - DAO Decision

If no improvement:

  • The DAO votes on removal

  • DAO Facilitator ensures the process is followed correctly

  • Removed members lose DAO membership status

Step 5 - Status Update

Removed individuals:

  • Will not receive KAT

  • Will not receive DEP certificates

  • Will not be eligible for DEP 3 leadership roles

  • May reapply for future cohorts (not guaranteed)
