Discord Use Guidelines

Welcome to the DAO Experimentation Program (DEP 3) Discord workspace. This guide explains how to use the DEP 3 channels and collaboration spaces.

General Principles

Open to read, focused to contribute. All Kambria Discord members can view the DEP 3 workspace. This keeps DAO activity visible to the broader community and supports open learning.

Posting permissions are more focused:

  • DEP 3 DAO Members can post in program-wide collaboration channels.
  • Only members of a specific DAO can post in that DAO’s working channel and lane threads.
  • Kambria Admins manage official announcements, onboarding, moderation, and program administration.
  • #dep3-support is an exception: it is an open peer-support Forum where Kambria Discord members can create and reply to support posts.

Please keep discussions in the appropriate channel and follow pinned messages and channel-specific guidelines.

DAO Channels and Lane Threads

Each DAO has one main working channel.

Use the main DAO channel for information that affects the whole DAO, including:

  • DAO-wide updates
  • Weekly check-ins
  • Decisions and governance notices
  • Important links and resources
  • Cross-lane coordination

Inside each DAO channel, execution is organised into lane threads.

Each lane has its own thread so the members responsible for that outcome can coordinate their day-to-day work without burying other DAO discussions.

A pinned Lane Directory in the DAO channel links members to the available lane threads.

If you are a floating contributor, join the lane thread for the work you are currently supporting.

If You Are a DAO Member

As a DEP 3 DAO Member, you can:

  • View all DEP 3 channels.
  • Post in #dep3-general and #dep3-showcase.
  • Post and collaborate in your assigned DAO channel.
  • Participate in your DAO’s lane threads.
  • Share files, links, polls, updates, and relevant working materials.
  • Join the Community Lounge.
  • Join your assigned DAO meeting room.
  • Create and reply to posts in #dep3-support.

Please use:

  • #dep3-general for questions or discussions relevant across DAOs.
  • #dep3-showcase for completed work, milestones, stories, and achievements.
  • #dep3-support when you need help or encounter an issue.

  • Your DAO channel for DAO-wide coordination and decisions.
  • Your lane thread for day-to-day lane execution.

Getting Support

#dep3-support is a Discord Forum so that support questions remain organized, searchable, and reusable by other participants.

Before creating a post:

  • Check the DEP 3 Documentation.
  • Search the Forum to see whether the question has already been answered.
  • Review the relevant documentation.
  • Select the most relevant Issue Type tag and your DAO tag, if applicable.
  • Use a clear post title describing the issue.

Available support tags include:

  • 👥 Activity Status
  • 🏛️ DAO/Lane Setup
  • 📌 Tasks/Deliverables
  • 📅 Meetings/Sessions
  • 📝 Forms/Templates
  • 💰 Rewards/Payment
  • 🪲 Tech/XDAO Issue
  • ❓ How-to/Other

The Forum also uses status tags:

  • 🟡 Need Facilitator — peer support has not resolved the issue and Kambria support is needed.
  • 🔴 Escalated — the issue requires attention from the Kambria Core Team or relevant technical team.
  • 🟢 Solved — the issue has been resolved.

Status tags are controlled by Kambria Admins / authorized moderators.

When creating a support post, use:

  • Role: [DAO Lead / Participant]
  • Which DAO: [CED / …]
  • Issue: [Briefly describe your issue, including when it occurred and the device or browser used, if applicable]
  • Screenshot(s) and/or Video(s): [Attach if applicable]

This peer-support-first format allows other participants to learn from previous questions and allows the community to assist before an issue needs to be escalated.

Voice Channels

Voice Channel Purpose Access
Community Lounge Informal networking, office hours, and cross-DAO conversation All DEP 3 DAO Members + Kambria Admin
CED Meeting Room Capacity Exchange DAO meetings CED Members + Kambria Admin
[Project DAO 1] Meeting Room Selected DAO meetings Members of that DAO + Kambria Admin
[Project DAO 2] Meeting Room Selected DAO meetings Members of that DAO + Kambria Admin
[Project DAO 3] Meeting Room Selected DAO meetings Members of that DAO + Kambria Admin

Community members outside DEP 3 can see that these meeting rooms exist and when activity is taking place, but cannot connect unless they have the appropriate DEP 3 role.

The Community Lounge is available across the cohort, while each DAO-specific meeting room is restricted to members of that DAO.

Good Practices

  • Keep discussions in the appropriate channel.
  • Use the main DAO channel for DAO-wide information and lane threads for lane-specific execution.
  • Check pinned messages and the Lane Directory before starting a new discussion.
  • Share completed work and major milestones in #dep3-showcase.
  • Search #dep3-support before opening a new support request.
  • Keep support posts clear and update them when the issue has been resolved.
  • Be respectful, constructive, and collaborative.
  • If you are unsure where a general discussion belongs, start in #dep3-general.

These guidelines keep DEP 3 open and transparent to the Kambria community while giving each DAO and each lane a focused space to execute.
