Important Notes for Applicants in Vietnam

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 15 views

Individuals and organizations located in Vietnam are warmly welcome to participate in DEP 2. Please review the following two important considerations before applying.

1. Global Participation and DAO Composition

Concern: DEP is designed so that each DAO functions as a collaborative initiative involving participants from multiple communities. Projects with a primary focus on a single country (e.g., Vietnam) are welcome, but the DAO structure must enable contributors from other regions to participate meaningfully.

What this means in practice: DAO members from outside your local team should be able to take on real roles. This may include:

  • Research collaboration
  • Governance participation
  • Community outreach

Other operational roles carried out by DAO members beyond the core local team

Implementation: As part of the DEP process, DAO Facilitators (Kambria) will work with DAO members during the program to structure participation and refine proposals in line with this principle.

2. Regulatory Considerations Related to Crypto Funding

Concern: DEP funding is distributed in USDT. Given the current regulatory environment in Vietnam and the ongoing pilot framework for digital asset services, directly receiving or converting crypto assets locally may create legal and operational uncertainty.

What this means in practice: To mitigate this risk, the following approach is recommended:

  • Treasury operations and crypto-to-fiat conversion should be handled by DAO members located in jurisdictions where crypto transactions are clearly permitted.
  • Contributors based in Vietnam can then receive funds in fiat rather than handling crypto transactions locally.

Implementation: During the program, DAO Facilitators (Kambria) will work with DAO members to structure treasury roles and operational responsibilities in accordance with this principle.
