Setting up devices before joining a practice Session

For TECD Sessions, Seniors and SeniorBuddies can not only chat but also practice a specific Subject together, such as crafting a recycled item.

For practical Sessions, TECD supports Seniors with two types of devices: a phone and either a laptop or a tablet:

• Phone: For chatting and capturing your practice actions.
• Laptop or tablet: For observing the actions or shared screen of the SeniorBuddies.

This guide helps you arrange your devices for practical Sessions based on specific Subjects.

An overview perspective of a practical Session

Before diving into the details, please refer to the following video to get an overview of how a practical Session is conducted.

Recycled Crafts

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a stand
• 1 laptop or tablet

Tools: Recycled craft kit

Device Setup:

• Device 1 (Smartphone):

• • Place the smartphone in the stand and raise the stand so that the phone is about 40 cm high, then tilt the phone at a 15-20 degree angle (as shown in the illustration).
  • Position the smartphone on your right side so that it can capture your actions (as shown in the illustration).

• Device 2: You can place it on your left side for easy observation of the Senior.

 

Chess

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a stand
• 1 laptop or tablet

Tools: Chessboard

Device Setup:

• Device 1 (Smartphone):

• • Mount the smartphone on the stand and adjust the stand so the phone is elevated about 40 cm and tilted at a 50-60 degree angle (as shown in the illustration).
  • Place the phone opposite your seat, behind the chessboard (as shown in the illustration).
• Device 2 (Laptop or Tablet):
  • Position the laptop or tablet to your left or right for easy viewing and interaction.

 

Drawing

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a stand
• 1 laptop or tablet

Tools: Painting set

Device Setup:

• Device 1 (Smartphone):

• • • Mount the smartphone on the stand and adjust the stand so the phone is elevated about 40 cm and tilted at a 15-20 degree angle (as shown in the illustration).
    • Place the phone on your right side so you can observe the painting (as shown in the illustration).

• Device 2: You can place it on your left side for easy observation and interaction with the Senior.

 

Knitting

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a stand
• 1 laptop or tablet

Tools: Knitting set

Device Setup:

• Device 1 (Smartphone):

• • • Mount the smartphone on the stand and adjust the stand so the phone is elevated about 40 cm, then tilt the phone at a 15-20 degree angle (as shown in the illustration).
    • Place the phone on your right side so you can observe the knitting process (as shown in the illustration).

• Device 2: You can place it on your left side for easy observation and interaction with the Senior.

 

Digital literacy

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a stand
• 1 laptop or tablet

Device Setup:

• Device 1 (Smartphone): The smartphone will be used as the tool for actions and communication during the Session. You can use the screen sharing feature (detailed instructions in the next section) to allow the Senior to observe your actions.

Device 2:

• You can place it on your left side for easy observation of the Senior.

 

Meditation (Sitting on a chair)

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a phone stand
• 1 laptop to view the instructional content and observe the actions of the Senior

Tools: Chair and table

Device Setup:

• Place the smartphone in the stand and raise the stand so that the phone is about 10-20 cm high (as shown in the illustration).
• Position the phone on the table in front of your sitting spot, about 75 cm to 1 meter away (as shown in the illustration).
• Connect the laptop to the network and position it in front of the phone (as shown in the illustration).

Face Yoga

Required Devices:

• 1 smartphone with a phone stand

Device Setup:

• Place the smartphone in the stand and raise the stand to a height of 30-40 cm so that the phone is at face level (as shown in the illustration).
• Position the phone in front of your sitting spot, about 30-40 cm away (as shown in the illustration).
